The Bachelors
'THE BACHELORS Direct from Europe.'
Touring Australia & New Zealand - February / March / April 2010

“The Bachelors” with seventeen hit records in the UK charts throughout the 1960's and selling millions of records around the world, became one of the top acts, both in recording and stage entertainment.

In 1964, they were probably the biggest record sellers, showing for an amazing 77 weeks in the UK charts, compared to the 'The Beatles' 50 weeks, plus reaching number one, with titles “Diane” and “I Believe”, had the distinction of being the first Irish group to make the top ten in the charts in both the UK & the U.S.A. Many hits followed throughout the world, especially in the Far East and Australia, plus having hit singles in the US billboard charts with “Diane” and “Charmaine” reaching No. 5, and many successful albums.

In 1964 they had more 'top ten hits' than 'The Beatles' (In the Guinness Book of Hit Singles).

The Bachelors' 'Greatest Hits' collection- Released- mid. 2008, debuted at No. 7 and was still in the top 10 of the UK top 40 charts for some weeks. The trio last featured in the British charts way back in the early 1970's.

I Believe – The Very Best Of The Bachelors, which contains the group's biggest hits, “Sounds Of Silence”, “Ramona” and the eponymous title track, has almost achieved gold status over the same period, selling close to 100,000 copies in it's first three weeks of release.

The UK market was very demanding on “The Bachelors' time, with the long seasons booked in the top ten theatres in London and around the country, which left little time for promotion in the U.S.A., apart from a couple of appearances on the 'Ed Sullivan Show' and the “Johnny Carson Show”, plus some of the other top TV shows there.

The Bachelors enjoyed great success through the seventies to mid-eighties until they disbanded. After reforming in the mid 1990's, founder member John Stokes believed that their market was with a mature audience and their hit songs would stand the test of time if presented in a more entertaining way and set out to do a complete makeover. With the help of the very talented Kevin Neill, formerly with the group of international renown, “The Karl Denver Trio” and Jonathan Young, they have taken The Bachelors to a higher level.

The successful result of this is now obvious, as The Bachelors are once again one of the top acts in the UK and in big demand for the top theatre and cabaret venues. Such is their popularity, they have completed six summer seasons in seven years at one of the top resort theatres, namely the 'North Pier Theatre' in Blackpool. This will hardly ever be repeated by another act.

News of The Bachelors new - found success reached as far as Australia and in 1998 were invited to tour there once again. Such was the reception that they have returned to tour in Australia almost every year since and will start the 2010 tour in Perth in February.
